Letter to Churches

Greetings in Jesus Name,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting our Jericho Road Ministries Website.  This ministry is a work in progress.  Our mission is to reach out to as many individuals and families as possible to give comfort and aid to those who suffer from bipolar and depression.  As in the case of my wife, the illness is a medical condition that is treatable with medicine, counseling, support, love and care.  We know and serve a God that is a healer.  If God chooses not to heal my wife, we will not allow this to be a negative influence on our lives.  Instead, we will use the illness to be a means of reaching out to others who have the same illness with the express purpose of giving support and comfort while helping people find hope in God.

The Least of These

Matthew 25:33-45 - "And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in  or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat:  I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me."

Just like God heard the cries of the Israelites who were in bondage in Egypt, God has heard the cries of those who are suffering with illness of depression and bipolar.  Sometimes the cries can last for hours, depending on how severe the episode.  The Bible says that "God is touched with the feeling of our infirmities".  How He must be touched when He hears their cries in the night.

As the church of the living God, we must hear the cries of a wounded heart.  We must not turn a deaf ear to them.  I believe that God is calling us to just listen to their cries. We may not necessarily understand what they are going through, but a little love and compassion can go a long way toward the healing process.  People today are looking for answers, they are looking for hope, they are looking for love, and if they don't see Jesus in us, how will they ever find Him?

Where is Revival we ask?  You will find revival where Jesus is:

*  Jesus dared to go the homes of sinners and publicans and eat with them.

*  Jesus dared to go to the lepers and touch them.

*  Jesus showed mercy on the woman who was caught in adultery.

*  Jesus dared to cross cultural lines to speak to a Samaritan woman, breaking down the walls of tradition and customs.

*  Jesus healed on the Sabbath day, against the traditions of that day.

Today, if we want to find out where Jesus commands us to go to bring revival,

*  We must go to the hopeless and helpless.

*  We must go to the prisons, hospitals and shelters.

*  We must go to the stressed, the lonely, the depressed, and downhearted.

*  We must go where others are afraid to go.  That's where Jesus will be and that's will revival will begin among us.

I conclude this letter with verses from Luke 14, verses 22b and 23:

"Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.  And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.  And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled."

It's up to us to extend our hands to a hurting humanity.  God asks the question, "whom shall I send, and who will go for us?  I say, "here am I Lord, send me".
